Valentine’s in New York
Feb 2010
In New York mostly this month and heading up the shoot for the Fall campaign for fabulous Stacy M. Igel and her gorgeous fashion label Boy Meets Girl. The location was very cool. We were driven to the stunning Mount Airy Casino a few hours out of New York city. I didn’t even know this place existed! It’s like a mini Vegas secret hideaway. The shoot was hard work and long days but it was great fun working with Stacy and her 8 beautiful models.
Been grooming actor Rhys Ifans for his press junket for his new movie Greenberg which he stars alongside Ben Stiller and Greta Gerwig. I washed his hair using his favourite Feed the Root Shampoo. Rhys is such a great guy, not only is he a fan of my products but he got right behind supporting me running the London marathon by wearing my ‘Do Running for Loros’ t-shirt for his whole day of interviews to support my chosen charity, Loros www.loros.co.uk . He also very kindly made a donation and you still can too! Visit www.justgiving/tarasmith
Had a lovely night with my dear friend Rosario Dawson who invited me along to V-Day’s benefit reading of Eve Ensler’s “I Am An Emotional Creature” of which Rosario directed. The girls casted were everyday teenagers hand-picked from the Lower East Side Girls Club. It was so wonderful to see Rosario shine behind the camera as well this time as opposed to always being in front of it. It is unbelievably inspiring and humbling to feel the power and passion that V-Day puts into fighting for women’s rights all over the world.
All that and I still managed to run through Central Park, across Manhattan Bridge and over Brooklyn Bridge in prep for London Marathon on April 25th. Phew!
My Feb Top Style TIP: If it’s anything like it has been for me, life’s pace will probably be picking up at a rate of knots compared to last month. Your workload’s kicked back in or you might just need to work off the excess in the gym. Whichever way, you’re probably going to have less time to get ready in. Here’s the trick…when blow drying your hair, work from the root and try not to over expose the ends to too much heat which can make your hair go dry and fluffy. Brush or comb it into its usual style and you will be surprised how quickly you can look so good. It will cut your drying time right down.
My Product of the Month: Go for an Ego hairdryer. It’s the ‘Rolls Royce’ of hairdryers. Let’s face it, putting any sort of heat on the hair can be damaging so you want to get it over and done with as quickly as possible with minimal damage. Well, the Ego does just that. With HW2 technology it decreases drying time while delivering sleeker, smoother hair!
