Cannes Film Festival
After a much needed bit of r and r with my chums in Majorca, I kicked off May creating a new look for Jamie Cullum who’s just returned from his Australian tour and is now getting ready to release his new album [name] which I styled his hair for the cover of as well as all his press material and his guest appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show
Yes, it’s Cannes Film Festival time and I was over there getting the stars ready for lots of red carpet events. Really enjoyed working with Hollywood superstar Diane Lane who is both a beautiful, classy woman and person. I gave her a beautiful up do which complemented her face, features and outfit to a tee. Whilst it was quite a structured style, the finished look was both elegant and effortless. I softly gathered her hair high at the back and pinned it in sections so it overlapped for a textured and tousled look. I lifted the front hair around the face to form a high quiff. For her next appearance we changed the look altogether let her long hair down and let those tresses flow classily down one side.
I’ve also been working closely with the amazing chemist Dr Roger Barr in creating some exciting new products to add to my collection which will be coming out later this year. Roger is probably best known for his involvement in the development of the late Anita Rodick’s Body Shop products.
Back to LA and working on a film shoot for ‘Growl’. It’s a wonderful short film that my dear friend Lee Cleary is producing.
My May Top Style Tip: Yes it’s all Sex and the City so glam it up and set your locks free! Keep long locks full, bouncy and make sure you use some good taming products like my Tara Smith Serum to stop your hair from separating and going frizzy. For those with shorter hair, volumise it as much as you can, then shape it and sleek it for a neat and structured look.
My Product of The Month: It’s got to be my fabulous Rude Tool Belt! These belts are like Gucci bags for hairdressers. They’re gorgeous and beautifully made and are not only very cool but essential for me to carry my hairdressing tools all around the world in. I just don’t know how I’d manage without it. So glad to hear that they will soon be available in the US too.
